Job Description:

General Purpose of the Job Provides and maintains a positive and appropriate educational program that meets the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs of the children within their care complying with all licensing and Ethos Learning requirements. Scope To provide high quality education and care following a unique set of principles that place the child and family at the heart of all rational judgments and decisions. To be enthusiastic and energetic as well as nurturing, patient, and compassionate. To know how and when to encourage children and families at the same time when comfort, flexibility, and quick responsiveness is needed. To be trustworthy, respect confidentiality, and be culturally aware and sensitive. Lastly, an effective classroom Lead Teacher must be a good team player, and have the ability to work well with others. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Upholds and is an exemplary model of the Ethos Learning Purpose, Vision and Mission. Promotes the culture of ethical compliance as per the NAEYC Code of Ethics. Follows and demonstrates understanding of the Ethos Learning policies and procedures. Is flexible and adaptable to the needs of Ethos Learning and the families served needs. Attends and actively participates in Ethos Learning faculty meetings. Program Quality Provides high quality programming and care. Maintains constant supervision of classroom children at all times. Responsible for the health, welfare, and safety of the children. Interacts with the children and encourages their involvement in classroom experiences. Provides and maintains a safe, caring, and welcoming classroom that is kept orderly, clean, and appealing. Works in conjunction with the lead teacher to ensure adequate classroom supplies, equipment, and resources are available. Assists the lead teacher achieve the goals of the classroom. Compliant to all licensing regulations Compliant with all Ethos Learning Staff Manual and Employee Handbook requirements including dress code. Process Evaluates the educational environment and programming of their assigned age group/classroom(s). This includes but is not limited to: o Maintaining child attendance and educational records/files. o Becoming familiar with and utilizing the company-standardized curriculum and curricular resources in order to prepare, implement, and evaluate daily classroom experiences (indoor/outdoor). o Preparing the environment and materials in accordance with Weekly Planning Forms. o Implementing age-, developmentally-, and culturally-appropriate classroom activities and experiences for the children. o Completing formal and informal child and classroom assessments and progress reports, per required timeframes. o Providing individualized programming and differentiated instruction necessary for the success of the children within their care. o Providing a family-friendly and focused environment that includes frequent informal communication with caregivers as well as formal tri-yearly conferencing. Additional conferences should be made available upon request. o Establishing a classroom-based, age-, developmentally-, and culturally-appropriate positive behavioral support system. o Being sensitive to individual childrens differences and needs, and being willing to adjust the program, curriculum, and/or environment to meet those needs. o Actively participates in professional development opportunities Team Adheres to all company policies and procedures. Actively attends and participates in all program staff meetings, and assists where needed. Motivates classroom colleagues by maintaining a positive attitude Is willing to work in a team environment; is willing to share ideas and be open to others; is flexible and willing to compromise. Assists in the creation of a positive enjoyable work environment. Physical and Travel Requirements Frequently lift or move weight as in lifting, carrying or holding children up to 50lbs Repetitively bend, stretch and stoop without accommodation Work with children on the floor Work outdoors in a variety of weather (Any weather between 90 degrees Fahrenheit and 15 degrees Fahrenheit). Current and approved tuberculosis test results. Fully maintains sight and sound child supervision without accommodations Perform light cleaning duties Travel is with-in the MA region is 10% of role. Typical Role Requirements Can work autonomously and make general decisions. Consults with manager for critical decisions. Job Specific Authority and Scope Program Director is consulted for critical decisions Typically does not have direct reports Typically does not manage a budget Required & Preferred Education and Experience Any of the following requirements: College degree on early childhood education Experience working with young children in group settings Additional Requirements, Training and Certifications Ability to pass a thorough criminal background check and drug screening. Has working knowledge of state licensing and accreditation systems. Demonstrated ability to independently as well as collaboratively make Skills & Competencies Demonstrated communication skills, ability to effectively read, write and communicate the English language. Bilingualism is a plus. Ability to use technology in role, including but not limited to: use of Internet, and Office applications such as Excel and Word. Must be able to work flexible hours as necessary. Flexible, patient and a collaborative team member Good Communicator with exemplary listening skills Ability to use technology such as iPads, and other educational resources.
