General Summary of Position:
The Richard A. Miner School of Computer & Information Sciences
(CIS) at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites
applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty
positions and two tenure-track open rank faculty positions (4
positions in total) to start in September 2023. The Miner School of
Computer & Information Sciences (CIS) was launched in Summer 2022
and named in honor of distinguished alumnus Rich Miner, co-founder
of Android, the company and mobile operating system that Google
acquired and launched.

The Miner School of Computer & Information Sciences:
The School currently has 24 tenured and tenure-track faculty
members, 7 full-time teaching faculty members, 2 visiting
lecturers, and a few adjunct instructors serving 1014 Computer
Science (CS) BS students, 275 CS-MS students, and 73 CS-PhD
students. It also offers a BS, an MS and an AS (Associate of
Science) in Information Technology (IT) online with 677, 116, and
76 students respectively (Information Technology degrees courses
are taught by a separate faculty body). It offers bioinformatics
options, a robotics minor, a data science option, a cybersecurity
option, and a PhD in computational mathematics. The School is
looking to fill a number of tenure-track/tenured positions in the
next few years. The CIS faculty has received approximately $10m in
the last two years in external research funding from the NSF,
DARPA, DOD, DHE, NIH, and corporations. Research Awards have more
than quadrupled and research expenditures have more than doubled
over the last five years. The School has 6 NSF CAREER Award

research program, show great potential for excellence in teaching,
