General Summary of Position:
We invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor of Multilingual Education/Educational Leadership to teach across programs in the School of Education (SoE). The SoE offers a traditional, on campus Ph.D. and a practitioner-based, online Ed.D. in Leadership as well as Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) and M.Ed. degrees in Educational Administration, Curriculum & Instruction, and Reading & Language. At the undergraduate level, the school offers a Bachelor of Education that leads to licensure in Elementary Education (1-6) and Moderate Disabilities (K-8), and a UTEACH program that leads to licensure in secondary STEM areas. We seek candidates whose expertise lies at the intersection of equity leadership and multilingualism and who bring anti-racist, justice-centered perspectives to their teaching, service, and research. The successful candidate engages critical frameworks to close opportunity gaps for linguistically, racially, and culturally diverse students.
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Conducting scholarly activities commensurate with expectations of a tenure-track faculty member at a research-intensive university.
  • Advising and mentoring students in teaching, research, and outreach activities
  • Engaging in student recruitment and retention efforts
  • Engaging in program development
  • Teaching courses across programs
  • Providing service to the programs, school, and college

    Minimum Qualifications (Required):

    • Ph.D. or research-based Ed.D. in Multilingual Education, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field
    • Demonstrated ability to publish in academic journals
    • A record of research focusing on educational inequities, or the policies and practices designed to redress those inequities
    • A record of excellence in teaching

      Additional Considerations:

      • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within diverse groups on complex problems
      • Established record of securing grant-funding and/or working on externally funded research
      • Established record of interdisciplinary research
      • Experience mentoring and advising students
      • Experience with working with government agencies and/or foundations
      • Experience teaching or conducting research in one or more of the following areas: equity leadership, multilingual education, educational policy and reform
      • Experience as a K-12 teacher of emergent bilingual or multilingual learners
