Job Description:

As a Calibration Technician, you will apply knowledge of mathematics and electronics to calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment to ensure measurement accuracy. The Calibration Technician will identify and utilize appropriate manual and automated measurement procedures.This position will normally receive little instruction on work, applying job skills and company policies and procedures to complete a wide range of difficult tasks, and working on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations. The Calibration Technician will track and schedule all required inspections internal and externa; maintain database and may perform some administrative duties. Job RequirementsCalibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment in one or more of the following disciplines - Acoustical, Dimensional, DC/Low Frequency, RF/Microwave, Optical, and Time & Frequency, to ensure compliance with published specificationsTrack and control all calibration records in custom databaseMaintain calibration standardsPerform maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of equipmentDevelop calibration procedures and methods, according to detailed specifications, drawings, and other technical requirementsIdentify out-of-tolerance conditions and perform corrective action via adjustments, component replacement, correction factors, etcPrepare calibration reports and certificatesEvaluate new calibration methods and procedures.Interfaces with the equipment owners to determine support requirements.Ensures the calibration laboratory is maintained.Other duties and responsibilities as may be assignedDesirableMinimum High School diploma or equivalentMinimum 5 years of calibration experience some of which can be offset with formal metrology trainingGood computer skillsProficient in use of MS Word and ExcelCan learn to work within custom databases and software applicationsMust possess good written and oral, communication skillsTechnical writing abilityIntermediate ability to troubleshoot repair, align and optimize precision equipmentKnowledge of Quality Management system (ISO 9001, ISO 17025 and ANSI Z540)Strong attention to detailsMust be a self-motivator, work as a team player, and follow written proceduresCapable of lifting to 50lbs occasionally to access and handle equipment.#zr Equal Opportunity EmployerMicrochip is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer of Disabled / Veterans / Minorities / Women.
