The Electro-Mechanical Engineer will be involved in sustaining engineering activities including improvements to the reliability and efficacy of our instrumentation products through root cause identification and analysis of quality problems and implementation of cost-effective and sustainable solutions.  You will have responsibility for meeting design specifications, project schedules, cost targets, and overall ownership of the activities required to complete the projects.


  • Identify and execute design improvement projects for in-production products and in-field retrofits.
  • Provide input on next-generation innovations to improve Design-for-Manufacturability and Quality
  • Maintain 3D CAD models and documentation for operations-requested changes, including supplier changes, manufacturing improvements, and end-of-life management.
  • Lead cost reduction design and reliability improvement efforts with cross-functional teams.
  • Execute failure analyses and mitigation activities, utilizing industry best practices such as Six Sigma, Lean, and CAPA.
  • Maintain effective communication with cross-functional teams, customers, and supplier for changes and implementation
  • Create technical documentation to support transfer to production (e.g., drawings, BOMs, assembly/installation instructions, and engineering reports)
  • Develop and execute testing at component, sub-system, and full system levels
  • Investigate product issues in support of NCRs and ECOs 


  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5-8 years of relevant work experience
  • Electrical engineering skills and experience a plus


  • Machine design experience that has incorporated machine elements, mechanical drive systems, pneumatic actuators, sensors, multi-axis controllers, and design for cost and manufacturability.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter showing front-to-back ownership and a sense of urgency within all areas of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal, 3D printing, materials, finishing, and assembly operations.
  • Specifying motors, encoders, sensors, control systems, and cables in designing custom electromechanical systems
  • System testing and design verification experience that includes setting up and conducting tests, data acquisition, and statistical analysis, summarizing data, and writing reports

  • Programming (C# or similar)
  • Optics/opto-mechanics
