General Summary of Position:
The Assistant Director International Student Services works
collaboratively with the International Students & Scholars Office,
Study Abroad Office, Admissions & Recruitment Offices and the
Academic Deans and Faculty in the development and support of
strategic programs and partnerships that support the growth of
international student enrollments and collaborations. This work
includes identification and solicitation of international partners
and opportunities, development of program and business models,
development of supporting MOUs, hosting and oversight of
international campus visits, and oversight of international support
partners.
Essential Job Duties:
Development of Strategic Programs and Partnership:
- Identify international partner and program opportunities that
will contribute to international student enrollment growth
- Coordinate communications and meetings that promote development
of international partnerships and programs
- Serve as the GPS lead in development of international
partnership and programming efforts
- Consider/ensure University enrollment and business interests
are at the forefront of international partnership opportunities
Support of Strategic Programs and Partnerships:
- Serve as a key contact with international partners to ensure
ongoing monitoring and success of international programs.
- Serve as key contact and provide monitoring oversight for GPS
international recruitment partners (e.g, Abitus,
Pathways).
- Periodically evaluate international partnerships to ensure the
programs meet the needs of the partners, the University and our
students and faculty.
- Coordinate appropriate meetings and visits with international
partners to ensure continued success of programs.
- Provide logistic support for visiting international partners
and students (for hosted programs in Lowell) when they are visiting
campus.
- Develop/monitor budgets, revenues and expenses associated with
international partnerships and programs.
- Provide quarterly reporting and updates to Vice Provost
regarding success and challenges of these programs and
partnerships.
Management of MOU, Contracts and International Program
Partnerships:
- Work closely with Vice Provost, Dean and other invested
University parties in the development, review and update of
international partnerships to ensure partnerships align with the
enrollment and business goals of GPS and meet the academic needs of
our programs and departments. Document and maintain records of all
international academic partnerships and review on a regular
basis.
- Serve as liaison to UMass Lowell Provost's office, UMass
President's Office and UMass Lowell Office of Institutional
Compliance to ensure compliance during creation/ renewal of
International MOUs, articulation agreements with partner
institutions for dual degree programs, licensing agreements, study
abroad and incoming exchanges; evaluate and present proposals for
international initiatives to the Provost.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
Education/Experience:
- Master's degree and 1-3 years of experience working with
international student populations
- Minimum of one year customer service experience (managing high
volume phone system, customer interaction, etc.)
- Minimum of one year experience working with international
students in the higher ed setting
- Demonstrated knowledge or strong interest in learning about
sponsored student visa matters
- Familiarity with Data Management systems and using computerized
student information systems
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Cultural sensitivity to persons of all backgrounds and
nationalities
- Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and communication
skills
- Excellent attention to detail, and ability to prioritize
- Additional Considerations:
- Must be a team player and easily able to adjust to changes in a
suitable manner
- Familiarity with UMass Lowell academic policies and procedures,
especially student-facing policies desirable
- Experience using a CRM
- PeopleSoft Student Records experience desired

This is an SEIU 888 Professional Union position, Grade P17.
