Job Summary:
Under routine supervision, the position is responsible for rotating through various areas of the business in order to gain an in-depth understanding of how Sales can setup the internal departments for growth. Rotations include Operations, Customer Experience and Pricing. In each rotation, the expectation is to gather as much knowledge and experience as possible, while connecting how Sales can better partner with internal departments
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate with carriers for the appropriate purchase rate to meet revenue and profit margin goals, as well as to facilitate appropriate business relationship with the carrier. This may also be done electronically (via Marketplace). Manage all freight in transit by obtaining adequate updates from carriers/drivers to monitor movement and ensure on time delivery.
  • Determine pricing (e.g., spot market rates, cost plus) consistent with company objectives as it relates to market rate and customer objectives by utilizing company systems to remain competitive based on current market needs.
  • Support bid process by collecting and analyzing preliminary rate and volume data, and published accessorials relative to operational characteristics for actual cost and revenue collection trends in order to maintain profitable business.
  • Ensure on time delivery, damage free services, and accurate billing through scheduling pick-up and delivery appointments, entering customer orders into the order management system to track loads, and obtaining approval for accessorial charges with assigned customers.
  • Proactively communicate and engage with internal and external customers who request information by checking load status and/or resolving problems to achieve customer satisfaction and minimize service failures to build a relationship that will maximize freight potential and growth.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma/GED with up to 1-2 years of work experience.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, or related field with 1-2 years of experience in Sales, Transportation/Logistics, or related field.

      • Ability to embrace change.

      • Self-motivated.

      • Ability to quickly learn a new software system.

      • Ability to quickly learn technical knowledge.

      • Experience working in a sales position.

      • Knowledge of supply chain management.

      • Proficient active listening skills.

      • Proficient time-management skills.
