The Shuttle Driver may be required to drive a tractor trailer and/or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes for the purpose of transporting trailers to the company manufacturing and warehouse locations in a safe and timely manner. Shuttle Driver must always operate in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors, and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.Working in a food manufacturing environment, employees must follow all established Company policies and procedures, primarily, GMP and SQF guidelines. Employees must have the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities outlined below.MANAGEMENT SCOPE -Non-Management ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -Position includes, but is not limited to, the following:Performs all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.Inspects tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed.Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required.Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.Immediately reports all safety hazards.Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.Ensures all required paperwork is with tractor trailer load and available to driver upon dispatch.Performs hook/unhook procedures per safety guidelines.Parks and stores tractor trailers in designated areas.Ensures all equipment and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured.Loads and unloads all product, equipment, and materials as required.Completes daily record of hours of service and enters in log in accordance with all Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area to keep all areas clear and clean as required.Performs other related duties as assigned.SUCCESSFUL FACTORS - Solid ethical disposition and ability to form business relationships across the organization. Spanish language skills a plus but not required. Valid CDL-A Driver s License required Valid DOT Health Card required High school diploma or general education degree (GED) One year of commercial driving experience Clean Driving Record Valid Forklift Certification a plus Knowledge of the English language with basic reading and writing skills Ability to follow verbal instructions and use simple mathematics Basic computer skills a plus Respond to daily workload and its variables with professionalism and effective results Ability to present information and respond to questions from management Ability to perform accurate inventory counts Ability to work weekends when required, and flexible with schedule changes Good interpersonal skills Ability to work in cold environment (-10 below zero)PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
