there! The Speech Therapist conducts a variety of tasks relating to
speech language pathology. The Speech Therapist is responsible for
the supervision of all students within their assignment, is
committed to the Atlantis Charter School Board of Trustee’s

understanding and reports directly to the Special Education

Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Master’s degree
preferred. Must hold current Massachusetts professional license
issued by appropriate licensing board Previous experience in Speech
Pathology preferred Experience with related technology preferred.
Strong communication skills, both written and spoken. Ability to
relate well to others. REPORTS TO: Special Education Director
SUPERVISION : None ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: While actual roles
and responsibilities will vary depending on individual
circumstances, the Speech Therapist will generally be required to
perform some or all of the following tasks. Note that this list is
not all-inclusive and that the administrator may also assign other
tasks he/she deems appropriate. Diagnoses and evaluates speech and
language skills as related to educational, medical, social and
psychological factors. Identifies students eligible for services.
Plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to
restore communicative efficiency of students with communication
problems. Provides counseling and guidance and language development
therapy to disabled students. Reviews student information to obtain
background information prior to evaluation to determine appropriate
tests and to ensure adequate information is available. Administers,
scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests.
Develops and implements individualized plans for assigned students
to meet individual needs, interests and abilities. Evaluates and
monitors assigned students. Reviews treatment plans, and assesses
student performance to modify, change, or write new programs to
meet student needs. Maintains records and documentation as required
by law, Atlantis Charter School policy and administrative
regulations. Conducts research to develop diagnostic and remedial
techniques. Serves as consultant to classroom teachers to
incorporate speech and language development activities into daily
schedule. Manages groups of students while providing for a variety
of learning styles and ability levels. Integrates technology to
enhance student progress. Conducts parent and/or staff professional
development workshops related to speech and language therapy best
practices when asked by administration. Additional Requirements
Performs other duties as assigned; Cultural Standards Establishes

Maintains an attendance record that meets or exceeds an acceptable
standard as defined by ACS policy. Takes responsibility and
accountability for assigned tasks, projects, and duties while
maintaining a professional manner. Makes efficient use of time by
organizing and prioritizing work efficiently. Presents a
professional appearance by adhering to ACS dress code. Is actively
engaged in job/career growth by attending inservice programs,
professional development, educational courses and seminars.
Actively listens and responds in a respectful non-confrontational
manner to the opinions of others. Fosters positive attitude in the
workplace. Maintains and respects strict confidentiality of any
sensitive information related to Atlantis Charter School, its
faculty, staff and students. Responds to concerns and requests of
direct reports in a timely, respectful and courteous manner.
EVALUATION An annual performance evaluation of the Speech Therapist
will be conducted by the Special Education Director or their
designee. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Follows part time, 10 month schedule.
Hourly rate as negotiated per offer of employment. WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ability to walk, sit and stand for long periods. Regularly uses
computer keyboard, requiring eye-hand coordination and finger
dexterity. Frequent travel between school buildings.
